Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

Description
We are seeking a Backend Engineer to build secure and scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot for a major energy company.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
- 5+ years in backend development
- Strong production knowledge of Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x
- Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and OpenAPI/Swagger
- Working knowledge of gRPC and Protobuf
- Good understanding of Kafka-based, event-driven architectures
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, and Redis
- Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and role-based access control
- Familiarity with JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
- Ability to integrate with external systems such as OIC, Salesforce, and SAP IS-U
- Experience migrating applications from older Java versions, such as Java 11
- Excellent English
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

WORK CONDITIONS
- Employment Type: This is a full-time position for candidates who are based in Athens or willing to relocate. Both employees and independent contractors (freelancers) are welcome to apply.
- Location: This is a hybrid role with 2 days remote and 3 days on-site at offices in central Athens.
- Working Days: Aligned with the standard Greek work schedule.
